The Beangrowers will be warming up for their first ever trip to the US with a live gig at The Alley, in Paceville on Thursday, after a three-year absence.

The band will be flying to Austin, Texas, next week to play at the SXSW Festival, followed by another trip to New York where they will be performing at the sin-e club on March 23, the legendary club where Jeff Buckley recorded his live album.

The SXSW is the biggest music conference held in the US, with the participation of over 6,000 people working in the music industry.

The line-up for this year includes the B52s, Franz Ferdinand, The Hives, Papa Roach, The Thrills, Starsailor, Junior Senior, Carmen Consoli, Radio 4 and The Church.

Other artists who will be present at the conference include Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips and Joan Baez. Past editions have featured Moby, Neil Young, Beck and David Gray.

During Thursday's gig at The Alley, which kicks off at 10 p.m., the band will be playing eight new songs from its forthcoming album, which will be released in summer.

The band is fast gaining popularity on the international scene and they have just returned from a five-day tour in Austria where they played in numerous venues to a growing number of fans.

In Austria, the Beangrowers are fast gaining the reputation of being on a par with some of the most renowned international bands, the band's promoters say. Their tour also got extensive press coverage.
