Labour M.P. back from Falklands

Labour M.P. Stefan Buontempo has returned from the Falkland Islands where he led a Maltese parliamentary delegation to the Commonwealth Parliaments Regional Conference. The conference was open to MPs from the British Isles and the Mediterranean that form part of the Commonwealth. Dr Buontempo was elected to chair one of the sessions, 'The ability of small countries and overseas territories to defend themselves and safeguard their status and independence'. British MP Ben Chapman and MPs from the UK and Cyprus addressed the session. Various discussions were held with other delegations and Dr Buontempo also met the Governor General of the Falklands, Howard Pearce, the former British High Commissioner to Malta.
