This weekend will mark a first in the history of Maltese rugby as a women's selection will cross the continent to Tunis to take part in an international Sevens Tournament, organised by the Tunisian rugby federation to mark Women's Day.

The squad has been training twice a week for the last couple of months under the supervision of rugby veteran Richard Beerman with the assistance of Robert Bonavia and Adrian Bartolo.

Although new to the game, the enthusiasm shown by the players, whose ages vary between 17 and 29, has made the participation to this tournament a possibility.

Assisting the team will also be German Ninja Duri. She has been playing rugby for the last seven years and has made her experience available to the team.

The participation in this tournament was also made possible through the help of Kavallieri Rugby FC and various sponsors, namely, Blue Label, Vassallo Builders, Mdina Glass and Qawra Palace Hotel.
