Schoolgirl out of danger

Nine-year-old Maria Attard, who last Friday was injured in a collision between a coach and a route bus in Zebbug, is no longer in danger of losing her life and was on Tuesday morning transferred to Fairyland ward.

In the accident, coach driver Arthur John Galea, 28, of Birkirkara sustained grievous injuries to his left arm.

The accident occurred in Siggiewi Road in the afternoon when a Leyland route bus, driven by a 33-year-old Mqabba man, collided with the Bedford Dominant coach, which was transporting schoolchildren back home from St Monica school in Birkirkara.

The bus driver and another student had also been slightly injured.
