British High Commissioner Vincent Fean visited Our Lady of Victory church and the Palace, in Valletta where conservation works on frescoes and wall paintings are in progress.

A team from the Wall Painting Department of the Courtauld Institute of Art of the University of London is restoring the fresco at the entrance of the Palace and the other in the Palace's chapel, as well as the wall paintings in the church.

The team uses a methodology of conservation and tries to maintain as much as possible of the original painting.

During the visit, Valletta Rehabilitation Project executive coordinator Ray Bondin explained the "multitude of difficulties" involved in such projects, including the long preparatory work, the documentary stage and the necessary tests to ensure the best and correct conservation solutions.
