Charged with rape

A 20-year-old man was yesterday charged with raping a 16-year-old girl and threatening to run her over.

The man, whose name is not being published by court order, pleaded not guilty to the defilement, violent, indecent assault and rape of the girl and holding her against her will between August and last month.

He also pleaded not guilty to stealing a car last October.

He was granted bail on condition he does not leave his home without the court's permission and was bound by a Lm500 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm3,000.
