I refer to the letter by Edward Torpiano (February 19) and start by saying how completely out of context was the assertion made in my regard in his last paragraph which stated that "we also prevented Floriana's former mayor, Publio Agius, from contesting the casual election". I cannot conceive how I was brought in the issue of Floriana's traffic. I was completely amazed!
Let me tell Mr Torpiano that no one could have prevented me from contesting the casual election had I wanted to and his assertion shows once again his antagonism, for want of a stronger word, against me. This is something beyond my understanding!
By using the word "we", he implied that Rueben Bonello, a man of known integrity, approved his action, something which would never have crossed my mind. And I still doubt it strongly, notwithstanding what the correspondent declared.
Is the Nationalist Party, which he represents, content to allow one of its candidates to sink to such depths of ethical behaviour and still keep him as its representative?
