The main aim of St Patrick's AC has always been that of promoting athletics as a way of life. So, the club is understandably proud of the recent achievements of Jonathan Balzan whose act of sportsmanship at the last Zurrieq International Half Marathon landed him the runners-up spot in the Sportsmanship Trophy Award 2003.
Balzan is one of the club's leading athletes and forms part of the team that won this year's MAAA Winter League, probably the most coveted team honour in local road running.
At Sunday's half marathon, he will be among the front runners having finished in second place last year.
As a club, St Patrick's will probably have the largest number of runners taking part in the full and half marathons.
On Friday, St Patrick's AC will be holding a pre-marathon social gathering at the Nutmeg Bistro, St Julian's. More information may be obtained by phoning 231664708 or 2182830 (dejl@mail.global.net.mt).
