Gozo Channel Co Ltd agrees with the Gozo Tourism Association that the baggage trailers service provides a useful, comfortable service to tourists carrying luggage for overnight stays in Gozo.
This was stated by general manager Mavic Fenech Adami in response to the GTA's appeal to reintroduce the trailer service. Introduced in 2000, the service was terminated last November due to industrial action taken by the Unjoni Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM).
Mr Fenech Adami said that Gozo Channel is currently discussing the issue with the UHM to resolve the matter without any further delay and inconvenience to passengers. He also explained that current negotiation "cannot possibly imply increased costs to the company which is already in a severely tight financial situation."
He added that it would be unfortunate if "unreasonable intransigence is allowed to take over common sense" and industrial pieces are bought at any cost, including a cost transferred to passengers who deserve the best quality service with the lowest price possible.
