San Miguel School is participating in a Comenius Project entitled "Interpersonal and Cultural relations," in collaboration with two other schools, one from Crete and the other from the UK. The aim of the project is for students to communicate with other students overseas as well as to become aware of the cultures, history and traditions of other countries.
Headmaster George Borg and a member of his staff attended the first exchange visit in Hull, UK. Staff representing the schools met and exchanged information on their respective schools. They also had the opportunity to visit other schools. These were Northcott School, Frederick Holmes School, Tweendykes School, PMLD provision at St Luke's Primary School and the new premises for St Luke's School, currently occupied by St Hughes secondary school.
The staff was able to discuss methodologies and assessment procedures and compare the availability of facilities at these schools with the facilities provided at San Miguel School.
In the afternoon, there was also time for some cultural visits, while in the evening the staff discussed the day's events over a meal.
Future visits were planned and towards the end of May, it will be the turn of San Miguel School to host staff from Crete and the UK.
