Debit card for youths
Bank of Valletta and NSTS - Student and Youth Travel have launched the Euro<26 BOV Visa card, an offshoot of the Euro<26 Youth Card, a youth identity card aimed at those aged between 16-26.
The new card can be used at over 100,000 establishments throughout 35 European countries. Discounted prices for card users are also offered by over 100 outlets throughout Malta and Gozo.
Among the numerous benefits and services, the Euro<26 BOV Visa cardholder will enjoy free banking on the purchase or sale of local and foreign drafts and traveller's cheques and standing orders, the bank said.
Other benefits include the waiving of advances processing fees on computer loans, an unsecured computer loan, a number of services related to BOV Homelink Success loans and credit facilities equivalent to twice the net monthly salary of the cardholder.
Cardholders are also entitled to a number of travel benefits available through NSTS - Student and Youth Travel. These include the special youth ISIS Travel Insurance policy, lower cost airfares under SATA global arrangements and reductions on the standard selling prices of a wide selection of hotels abroad.

Information seminar
The Malta Business Bureau, the EU advisory office of the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise and the Malta Federation of Industry will be holding an information seminar entitled May 1, 2004... Transitional Arrangements from a Customs Perspective', at Exchange Buildings, Valletta, on Monday at 9.30am.
Senior officials at the Customs Department will answer questions by the participants.
Participation is free for members of the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise and the Malta Federation of Industry. Non-members will be charged Lm10.

It is recommended that participants obtain a copy of the information document issued by the European Commission and entitled EU Enlargement in 2004 - Transitional Customs Measures of the Act of Accession, which can also be downloaded from the Customs information section on the MBB's website.

Waste separation seminar
The Cleaner Technology Centre and WasteServ Malta Ltd are organising a half-day seminar entitled Waste Separation - What's the Big Deal?! at Project House, Floriana on March 3 between 8.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.
Officials from WasteServ Malta and the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment will give practical information on sustainable waste management and its legal and economic implications. A case study of a local industry practising waste separation will also be presented.
Admission is free.

Women's rights conference
Women's rights in Islamic-culture countries will be discussed at a day-long conference at the Foundation for International Studies, Valletta on Wednesday.
The conference is organised within the ambit of the Mediterranean Master's Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation, which is coordinated by the University of Malta on behalf of 17 Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Institutions.
The programme is currently in its fourth year and is supported financially by the European Union.
The speakers will be from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan and Malta.
The event starts at 9.15 a.m. and is open to the public.
Gozo courses
The University of Malta Gozo Centre is organising short courses during April and May 2004 on office computer and internet skills for senior citizens and Sage - the accounting package.

Education workshop
The Department for Primary Education in the Faculty of Education will hold a three-day workshop for primary school arts teachers and student teachers.
The tutors are Elaine Benbow and Steve Blundel and the workshop will be held at the university starting on April 12.
A fee of Lm45 (Lm40 for students) is required with registration for the workshop, which covers workshop activities, curriculum materials and coffee.

Tree Planting
Representatives of the three political parties will plant a tree at Wied Ghollieqa nature reserve in San Gwann today at 10.30 a.m.
The political parties are to be represented by PN general secretary Joseph Saliba, MLP general secretary Jason Micallef and AD chairman Harry Vassallo.
The public is welcome to attend. The event is being organised by Nature Trust Malta.
