Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Harry Vassallo and international secretary Ralph Cassar are heading a delegation to the European Federation of Green Parties Congress, taking place in Rome this weekend.

The EFGP has decided it will no longer be a federation but it will become a party, the European Green Party.

During the congress, the principal Green Party candidates contesting the June 2004 European elections, including AD's Arnold Cassola, will launch the common European campaign together with delegates from the Green parties from all over Europe.

The Green parties have agreed on the basic principles and issues that they will present to the European electorate in June.

The common campaign will highlight issues such as health and environment, the democratisation of the EU and a Europe with a stronger social dimension.

Among the main speakers participating in the congress are German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer and Georgia's State Minister Zurab Zhvania.
