A 27-year-old man was yesterday jailed for seven months and fined Lm35 for theft and for verbally defaming a police superintendent.
Omar Mallia pleaded guilty to stealing a water heater to the detriment of Forestals Limited and several other objects from John Scerri's car on the night between February 4 and 5.
He also admitted to defaming Superintendent Neil Harrison at St Luke's Hospital's detox centre on February 14, the possession of a pointed instrument without a licence and committing a crime during the operative time of a suspended jail term.
Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.
