A complaint about a tooth broken during dentistry works was among the 13 cases concluded by the Consumer Claims Tribunal in January, 10 of which were decided in favour of the consumer and three not upheld. Two claims for moral damages were refused.

Among the other claims was one about a mobile phone discovered to be defective, another about various shortcomings on a holiday in Canada and another about reverse osmosis equipment that was not performing the function it was purchased for.

The compensation awarded ranged from Lm600, representing the various shortcomings suffered during a holiday in Jamaica, to Lm30, also representing various shortcomings on a tour.
