Trew - new triathlon national coach

Experienced Briton Steve Trew has been appointed the new coach responsible for the Malta Triathlon Association (MTA) national team to fill the void left after the departure of Andy Colbourn.

Trew, a former national coach in the UK, hardly needs any introduction. In 1986, together with Peter Borg Costanzi, he was instrumental in the setting up of the MTA. He has been coming regularly to Malta to conduct training camps for British triathletes.

Trew's versatility as coach, race commentator, journalist and novelist, sets him apart as one of the more knowledgeable persons about the sport of triathlon in the world. He has coached medal winners at European and World Championships and was at the Sydney Olympic Games as part of the British team.

In 2002, he was the race commentator at the Manchester Commonwealth Games for both Triathlon and Swimming. He is author of two books - Triathlon: Skills of the Game and Triathlon: A Training Manual.

Trew will be conducting two training camps here, one in March, in preparation for the Small States of Europe triathlon in April in Cyprus, and another in September ahead of the National Championships.

Those wishing to attend these training camps should check the MTA's Website: www.maltatriathlon.org for more details.
