Saliba sues for libel

The general secretary of the Nationalist Party, Joe Saliba, yesterday sued Gino Cauchi, editor of Super One Television, for libel.

Mr Saliba filed the suit against Mr Cauchi over a news item broadcast on One News last Wednesday in which it was alleged that Mr Saliba had ordered Net Television to give more prominence to a statement issued by Dr Lawrence Gonzi.

Mr Saliba claimed that this was defamatory and called on the court to condemn Mr Cauchi to pay him damages.
