I refer to the letter "Wrong welcome" (February 9).
Every passenger over 17 years of age who is not a day tripper is allowed to bring into the country the following items tax free: 200 cigarettes or equivalent in tobacco products; one litre of spirits; one litre wine; 60 ml perfume; 250ml toilet water.
Thus, the cashier at the Malta International Airport duty free shop (Arrivals) was correct in not allowing the sale of tax free goods which exceeded the Customs allowance to passengers travelling on their own.
Although it is the responsibility of Air Supplies to put up notices about such allowances in the duty free shop, it is ascertained that such notices are in fact exhibited at the shop.
