"There is nothing more encouraging than knowing that there are people out there who are willing to give a helping hand", Keith Marshall, Reaching Out co-ordinator said after receiving contributions from three different organisations.

Reaching Out is a philanthropic organisation collecting funds to finance projects for poor children.

The Air Malta cabin crew, calling themselves Le Crew, organised an evening of entertainment at St Aloysius College, aptly entitled 'Fl-Air'. The bumper crowd present were regaled with some absolutely thrilling stuff.

From the dynamism shown by the flamenco dancers, to the captivating voices of Charles Vincenti and Geraldine Zarb (accompanied by Oriana Grima on piano) to the mind boggling illusionism of magician Chris Govè - everything ran perfectly. The enchanting Ira Losco and Scream Daisy had the crowd on their feet, time and time again. An absolutely rock-solid performance across the board!

"The overall set-up fell nothing short of perfection. The Air Malta cabin crew showed us how an evening of this sort should be organised. The crowd loved it, and really got into the scene. Absolutely thrilling stuff!

"I would like to thank Mark, Claire and Franklin from Le Crew for their steadfast attitude and professional outlook. I am sure that everyone here today would attest to this fact. I must obviously extend my thanks, on behalf of 'Reaching Out' and the projects that we support to the actors and artists and all those who worked behind the scenes, especually the sponsors," Mr Marshall said.

Another fund-raising event was a music marathon at Rookie's, Bugibba organised by Paul and Louis the proceeds of which are in aid of the construction of a kindergarten in Pawe, Ethiopia. Lm1,000 were collected.

Most of Malta's top bands pitched in their efforts voluntarily for this truly worthy cause. The guys even produced a limited edition CD entitled Project Reaching Out for the occasion. From noon to midnight, local top performers strutted their stuff to give some children in Africa a chance at life.

Staff members at Aon Malta Ltd also contributed a small percentage of their wage on a monthly basis, which eventually is passed on to a chosen organisation every year. This year was no exception, with the generous amount of Lm700 being donated to Reaching Out's kindergarten project.
