The General Workers' Union said yesterday that part-time workers should receive the one-off bonus of Lm39, announced in the budget to compensate for the increase in VAT.

However, the union said it appeared that part-time workers were to be excluded. It did not feel there should be any distinction between different categories of workers, noting that part-timers also paid social security contributions.
