The five Lions Club branches in Malta have joined forces to organise the Grand Carnival Ball 2004, in aid of YMCA homeless shelter.

The event promises an annual come-back of Malta's traditional cheer and customary festive celebrations during carnival.

The ball is being held under the patronage of President Guido de Marco at the Casino Maltese, in Valletta on Friday at 8 p.m. A YMCA spokesman said the organising team is preparing a unique atmosphere for the gala, which includes welcome drinks and canapés and a seated full course meal complemented by superior wines, in collaboration with Casino Maltese, Island Caterers, the Manoel Theatre, Citypro, HSBC and dgmkultura.

Entertainment will be provided by live brass bands to create the right mood for the ball.

Tickets, at Lm15, may be delivered to all areas of the island upon reservation.

Guests may choose to use the facility of changing rooms at the venue for dressing and costume keeping prior to the event.

For booking, enquiries and costume rental phone 9949 5407, 9943 4806, 7944 0916 or 9949 4291. Early booking is recommended.

The Grand Carnival Ball 2004 will launch a series of fund-raising activities throughout the year set up for YMCA homeless shelter on an initiative of Lions Club La Valette.
