Call for reintroduction of baggage trolley service

The Gozo Tourism Association council is calling upon Gozo Channel Co. Ltd to reintroduce the baggage trolley service for tourists travelling to and from Gozo.

This service was introduced in 2000 by Gozo Channel after various discussions with the Gozo Tourism Association but was suspended in mid-November, 2003.

"It is indeed a shame that, due to an industrial action by Union Haddiema Maghqudin, these trolleys, which cost the company thousands of Maltese liri for their purchase, are now being left idle.

"The Gozo Tourism Association council would like to remind the UHM that if such action is being taken in the interest of a few Gozo Channel employees, with this same action they are jeopardising the tourism industry in Gozo, which is employing hundreds of other Gozitans," it said yesterday.

The association said both the minister responsible for Gozo Channel and the minister for Gozo should intervene to quickly resolve the issue.
