Defending students' right to vote

The social policy commission of the Kunsill Studenti Universitarji (KSU) said the Labour Party's strategy of trying to remove the right of a number of students to vote in the upcoming European parliament elections was a futile endeavour that would only result in burdening the courts and students.

KSU believed that everyone was free to use the court to protect one's rights, yet it was imperative that the correct research was done prior to the filing of applications.

It called for all the applications filed in relation to students with no correct basis by the MLP to be withdrawn immediately and urged the party to respect students' right to vote.

KSU is offering free legal aid to any student or families of students whose right to vote is being contested.

Any student who is being taken to court to have his name removed from the electoral register can call the KSU offices on 2134 3085.
