15,000 transactions being recorded everyday

HSBC's Internet Banking Service has attracted over 5,000 customers in its first days. At the same time activity has shot up to some 15,000 transactions per day. HSBC's Internet Banking Service offers local customers a range of services which is unique to Internet Banking in Malta.

"The response from HSBC customers to our Internet Banking Service has been very positive and encouraging. There has been a great deal of positive feedback showing that our efforts to make the system as efficient and easy to use as possible have paid dividends. The fact that in just our second week we will already be seeing over 100,000 transactions carried out through HSBC's Internet Banking testifies to the popularity of this system," said Godfrey Swain, Head of Marketing and Public Relations at HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. In order to make use of HSBC's Internet Banking Service, all HSBC customers need to do is access the bank's Website www.hsbc.com.mt and register on-line using either their Quikcash Card or their PhoneBanking Card. Customers do not even need to call at an HSBC branch.

Once this simple on-line registration is concluded, customers can benefit from the wide range of services available such as viewing online balances and transaction details for accounts and credit cards, inter account transfers, bill payments and overseas third party transfers among others.

Unique to HSBC's Internet Banking Service is the ability to open new savings, fixed and current accounts online. HSBC's Internet Banking Service is also accessible to visually impaired customers. HSBC's Internet Banking Service which is currently free of charge to all HSBC account holders, is highly secure, using 128 bit SSL encryption to ensure maximum confidentiality and security.
