I find the advertisement for Malta, currently being shown on British television, a complete embarrassment.

I cringe every time I see it.

What with all the unnecessary buildings going on in Malta, soon turning it into a concrete jungle, environmental and massive litter problems, poor exchange rates for British tourists and, finally, the latest bad publicity over the killings of the spoonbill birds, it is going to take much more than a boy using something else as a trumpet at a festa, a man asking a girl to dance or a couple of men carrying a girl to the sea to entice tourists to Malta.

I suggest the Malta Tourism Authority watch the other adverts for various countries being shown on British television, especially the one for Turkey, to realise how bad the one for Malta is.

On another matter, I agree with Joe Borg of Xghajra, that the immigration officers I have encountered in Malta are more pleasant than the ones at Heathrow airport, who are always miserable. I've yet to see one smiling.
