Anti-smoking regulations
The GRTU has warned that it is ready to mobilise its members against the new anti-smoking regulations which it has described as "draconian" and that they are being implemented overnight.
I am fed up with the attitude of smokers who do not care about other people's health. If they want to smoke in bars and restaurants, they have all the right to do so without turning these establishments into gas chambers for us non-smokers, who do not want to be party to this slow suicide.
I am fed up having to choose restaurants not on the merit of their service but whether they can provide a truly smoke-free environment.
If the GRTU mobilises its members against these new anti-smoking regulations, I will encourage all my acquaintances to boycott all those bars and restaurants which do not provide a truly non-smoking environment. If the GRTU thinks its members will lose the custom of smokers as a result of the new regulations, well, they are bound to lose my custom and that of the silent majority of fed-up non-smokers if they insist on the status quo.
I am sure both the leaders of GRTU and the health autorities can work out a solution that safeguards the health of us non-smokers in places of entertainment.
