This case involving Mambra Electronics Ltd dates back to April, involving a mobile phone purchased in August 2002. On April 17 the consumer, Tony Lia, wrote directly to Joseph Mallia, "as the person responsible for Mambra Electronics Ltd" and copied me in. In his letter Mr Lia explained:
My problem is a Samsung cellular telephone (SGH-N600) which I bought from Mambra Electronics Ltd in August 2002. After only a few days, it started to give me trouble and I brought it to your service department several times. I have even paid for it to be repaired but the same fault persists. Last Tuesday, I called again at your outlet and left the telephone with the lady at the service department who told me that once again it will be looked into.
Mr Pavia, I accept that an item I buy could turn out to be faulty. But I would never accept that the same fault recurs repeatedly even when the set is still under guarantee. I strongly insist that this cellular phone be replaced immediately with a new one because with all the inconvenience it is causing me I am much better off without it. When I spent Lm139 to buy it I should have got a very reliable set but it turned out that it is not worth 139 cents.
While I await your reply, I hope you take immediate action as regards my complaint. (Tony Lia, April 17, 2003)
After having asked for Mambra Electronics' side of the case to no avail, on September 9 we sent them a copy of this letter and asked for their side, again to no avail. On December 9 we sent them a reminder and another copy, still to no avail.
An explanation from Mambra Electronics Ltd would be very much appreciated.
