Labour Party leader Alfred Sant said that if the government was not capable of creating job opportunities, it should resign.

Addressing a party activity in Gozo, Dr Sant said he would continue to insist that the government usher in the "new spring" it had promised the country.

When faced with the lack of job opportunities, the government was blaming the globalisation process. In reality Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami was to blame, as he had repeatedly ignored the challenges facing the country.

Dr Sant also said the MLP general conference, to be convened next month, was expected to urge people to take it to the streets in a show of strength.
