Well dear Adrian Vassallo, I have personally witnessed several scenes featuring hunters which would resemble more a blood-filled Rambo film! It is not the first time we have had hunters appearing in court because they simply stop to shoot from main roads, as witnessed last May when there was an influx of honey buzzards on the island. If Dr Vassallo uses some Sherlock Holmes observations he may quickly find out that on the night of the intrusion it was a full moon (so much for pitch darkness!).
It was also blowing a gale force northwesterly wind which makes it difficult to hear even the loudest gunshots. Also may I suggest a call to an ironmonger? He would remain astonished at the variety of extremely small and hardy wire cutters available nowadays. Whatever hunters try to make of the incident it is yet another black spot tarnishing their already bad image. The pity is that such an image is starting to be reflected on the whole of the Maltese people. Seeing that the local government seems pretty happy with the situation, the Maltese people have no alternative but to turn to the EU to try and mend things.
