Labour conference

The Labour Party will hold an extraordinary general conference on February 11 on the theme "work, protection, dignity', the party's national executive decided yesterday.

In a statement, the party said the decision was taken in the light of the "national crisis" hitting jobs.

The executive agreed to back today's General Workers' Union demonstration.

The conference will also discuss a motion, to issue a call for more candidates to contest the European Parliament elections.
