The Malta Labour Party is introducing a new fund-raising scheme inviting donors to authorise their banks to transfer regular sums from their account.

The party said no limit was being set on the amounts, however, the donations had to be regular.

Bank of Valletta, HSBC, Lombard and APS are taking part in the scheme, with the first two waiving bank fees for the scheme.

At the launch of the scheme yesterday, the deputy leader for party affairs, Michael Falzon, said that the system would be more efficient to run as the party would not have to chase donors.

The scheme will come into effect at the beginning of February.
