HSBC Bank Malta has donated Lm10,000 to the HSBC Cares For Children Fund instead of sending out Christmas cards and hampers over the festive season.
The fund, which has dispensed more than Lm165,000 over the past three-and-a-half years, intends to use the money to continue its work with underprivileged children throughout 2004.
During 2003, the HSBC Cares For Children Fund continued to support educational, recreational and rehabilitation projects throughout Malta and Gozo, supporting more than 25 projects aimed at improving the quality of life of needy children.
It has supported a wide range of initiatives, including Nature Trust's education centre at Wied Ghollieqa, a hydrotherapy pool for children attending Dun Manwel Attard School, in Wardija and the purchase of specialised equipment for the special children's unit at Prof. Guzé Aquilina Primary School in Sannat.
"Over the next 12 months, the fund, which could not operate without the enthusiastic support of volunteers from among HSBC's employees, will continue to assist wherever it can," HSBC Cares For Children Fund chairman Chris Hothersall said.
