A 19-year-old boy was yesterday put on probation for three years for breaking into a store and stealing over Lm100 worth of alcohol.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera heard Jeremy James Farrugia, of Birkirkara, plead guilty to stealing the alcohol from Charles Grech Liquor Store on the night of August 10-11, 2002.

The magistrate ordered that the operative time of a one-year jail term suspended for two years, handed down by another court, be extended to four years after hearing that Farrugia was only 18 years old at the time and suffered from a "conduct disorder".

Police Inspectors Dennis Theuma and Simon Galea prosecuted.
