The Parliamentary Secretary in the Finance and Economic Affairs Ministry, Edwin Vassallo, said feedback from the business sector showed that sales during the post-Christmas period were very positive.

Mr Vassallo, who was meeting business owners at the Embassy Shopping Complex, in Valletta yesterday, said that in general, sales during Christmas were good and this was spread over a variety of products as well as in different localities.

The same positive trend continued in the first days of the year during the traditional sales, he said.

Mr Vassallo said that the number of licences issued by the Trade Licensing Unit last year amounted to 1,628.
