National Pool overhaul

A Lm19,000 project is underway at the National Pool to remove the tiles from the bottom and instead layer it with a special coating and net. In 1998 the tiles of the pool started coming off and though the pool had been re-tiled the problem kept recurring.

In 1998 the tiles of the pool started coming off and though the pool had been re-tiled the problem kept recurring. Pool executive chairman Maurice Gruppetta said that despite several studies by foreign experts it could never be determined why the tiles were coming loose.

"This special coating and net should give a few trouble-free years," he said.
