World Day of Lepers

The World Day of Lepers, founded by Raoul Follereau, will be marked on January 25.

Follereau strived for 50 years to help all those suffering from leprosy.

The Raoul Follereau Foundation works to raise a public conscience in favour of those suffering from the disease - 700,000 new cases of leprosy are recorded annually around the world.

Follereau died in 1977 and his appeal in favour of leprosy sufferers is still passed on by the International Union of the Raoul Follereau Foundation.
