I refer to the letter by Nadine Grech (January 6).
Ms Grech can be reassured that the management of Galleria Complex takes security measures very seriously and both the contracted security staff and the maintenance staff at the shopping complex follow a very rigid standard procedure whenever the alarm sounds.
The standard procedure followed is first to identify the area where the alarm went off by checking the central control panel and then by physically verifying the cause of the alarm. Every single occasion that the alarm sounded, this procedure was followed and reported upon.
To date, thankfully, the alarm went off either through the accidental breakage of the break-glass or when maintenance works caused the alarm to trip.
I am sure the impression Ms Grech got as a result of the response by the member of the staff (assuming that it was a member of the shopping complex staff that responded to her query) was erroneous, as all members of the Galleria Complex staff know that these procedures are scrupulously followed.
