The two Premier League matches in yesterday's programme at Ta' Qali will be played this afternoon, weather permitting, following the National Stadium Ground Management's decision to postpone all fixtures because of a waterlogged pitch.

The same kick-off times, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., were retained for the Sliema Wanderers-Hibernians clash and Birkirkara's match against Floriana.

The MFA decision means that four matches from the top flight will be played this afternoon in two different venues.

Despite the inclement conditions, the matches at the Hibs Ground, Hamrun Spartans-Balzan Youths and Marsaxlokk-Valletta, are still on. However, if the bad weather persists other postponements could be in store today.

Meanwhile, the Wanderers will rue their decision not to have filed Michael Mifsud's registration earlier in the day on Friday, the opening day of the January transfer window.

The former Kaiserslautern striker could have been eligible to play for the Blues today against Hibs had his documents been lodged at the Malta FA offices before 2 p.m. on Friday.

This was not the case, however, as the Sliema official in charge deposited Mifsud's paperwork late in the afternoon. As the circumstances evolved, Sliema were unlucky to have failed to beat the 48-hour transfer deadline before today's kick-off.

Div. One matches off

Today's two matches from the MIA Division One league at the Tedesco Stadium are cancelled as well.

The Malta FA has not announced any alternative dates so far. However, the probability is that these two matches will be played on Thursday at the Centenary Stadium.
