Silver jubilee for Technopark-based firm mother company

The mother company of Mosta Technopark-based electronics firm Sicons-Opto Products Malta Ltd has just celebrated its silver jubilee. The German mother company, Signal Construct GmbH, has been developing and manufacturing LED-related products since 1978.

Signal-Construct has consistently set new standards, pushed back horizons and introduced innovations which later became market standards or were implemented as tailor-made solutions by customers for whom it had created them. Today, Signal-Construct processes over a quarter of a million LEDs per day and is one of the most capable and accomplished companies in the industry even beyond Europe.

Signal-Construct president and owner Herbert Hofsaess said: "Our ability to appreciate the user's requirements and our comprehensive knowledge of the market and of a wide variety of production techniques, form the basis for our product development activities. This results in technically sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing products.

In addition, we consciously offer an extensive vertical range of products, which ensures flexibility and quality even in the preliminary stages of production."

In 1999 Mr Hofsaess decided to open a manufacturing plant in Malta. Commenting about this decision, he said he was always convinced that coming to Malta would increase the company's profile and and presence in the international market.

"I did not come to Malta because of cheap labour... I came here because I was convinced that the Maltese workforce is highly prepared and very efficient. Choosing the right people at the helm of the company and continued investment make Sicons-Opto Products Malta a viable and successful venture," he said.

Signal-Construct's silver jubilee was given wide coverage in German print and broadcast media, during which Sicons-Opto Products Malta was mentioned for its efficiency and competitiveness.
