Disaster has struck again at St Francis of Assisi school, in Sta Venera where a Gozitan worker was critically injured when he fell a height of three storeys yesterday.

The 37-year-old from Qala was working on the school's roof when he fell at about 9.30 a.m.

It is the same school where a 14-year-old boy from Zurrieq died tragically on October 27 when a goalpost fell on him during a PE lesson.

Education Minister Louis Galea said yesterday that following that incident, the school was examined and on the recommendation of health and safety personnel, a roof made of metal sheeting had to be replaced.

This had to be done during the holidays and work started yesterday by a private contractor. The injured man was one of his employees.

Duty magistrate Abigail Lofaro appointed a number of experts to help with the inquiry.

Hamrun district police are investigating.
