Competing in the third age-group swimming meeting at Tal-Qroqq Swimming Complex yesterday, Neil Agius posted the 200-metre butterfly Group D record when he clocked 2 minutes 20.07 seconds.

According to his Russian coach Oleg Kreker, the 17-year-old Neptunes swimmer, who holds the 800 and 1,500 metres freestyle national records, had set his sights on beating the age-group mark of 2:20.21 set by John Buttigieg in May 1997.

Although some creditable times were registered by other swimmers in both the A and junior national squads, there were no other records in yesterday's meeting which brought to an end the winter cycle of the current season.
