A lay volunteer will leave Malta on Sunday for a year's missionary work in Mafinga Minor Seminary School, Tanzania.

Steven Falzon, 21, of Mellieha, was given the Missionary Cross representing his mandate during Mass at the John XXIII Peace Lab chapel in Hal-Far last Sunday.

Mass was celebrated by Fr Dionysius Mintoff, OFM director of the Peace Lab, and Fr Joseph Forte.

Mr Falzon's visit is organised by the Voluntiera Lajci Missjunarji, which has sent more than 50 lay volunteers in Third World countries during the past 18 years.
