Fr Dionysius Mintoff yesterday made a plea on behalf of illegal immigrants from Eritrea who are spending their second Christmas in Malta in detention.

"These are parents and children, who have suffered great hardship and underwent trauma in their own countries," Fr Mintoff told The Sunday Times. "These people did not leave their war-torn country lightly."

Fr Mintoff said the Peace Lab is very concerned about the levels of destitution being imposed on these people by their detention. "They are brittle and ready to break," he warned.
