Ray Demanuele takes top spot

Ray Demanuele won the third ranking series tournament, organised by the Malta Pool Association, after an 8-3 win in the final over Alfred Attard.

The experience of previous finals was a determining factor in Demanuele's favour as he had the better of Attard who was featuring in his first-ever final in a ranking event.

The success has pushed Hibs Pavilion player Demanuele to the top of the rankings list. Attard, who plays for Top Gun, is joint sixth with Mario Vassallo.

Top ten rankings: 1. R. Demanuele 600 points; 2. D. Bezzina 560; 3. C. Attard 525; 4. A. Cuschieri 500; 5. I. Rizzo 455; 6. M. Vassallo, A. Attard 400; 8. J. Camilleri 370; 9. M. Brincat 340; 10. C. Azzopardi, S. Mangion 330.

In the U-18 category, the honours went to Wayne Farrugia, of San Gwann Bocci Club, who beat St Michael's player Neil Aquilina 6-2. For Farrugia this was his first title and moved up to second in the ranking list.

Top six U-18: 1 K. Camilleri 600 points; 2. W. Farrugia 570; 3. M. Falzon 505; 4. N. Aquilina 485; 5. D. Ferriggi 430; 6. G. Grech 400.

The next ranking event will be played in March.
