WasteServ Malta Ltd has welcomed Green Pak's recently launched initiative to set up a Green Dot Scheme for Malta. The Green Dot labelling is an excellent example of how private industry can take an active role and assume responsibility to manage its own waste. Co-operation with WasteServ to increase awareness on the need to separate waste is more than welcome.

Speaking about this initiative Dr Ing. Christopher Ciantar, head Strategy, Communications and Development, WasteServ, said: "The Green Dot labelling is in line with our philosophy to encourage industry to takeover the roles currently being undertaken by WasteServ. Waste today is considered to be an important resource which if managed properly can be economically viable."

Dr Ciantar added: "WasteServ's remit does not in anyway compete with the services being provided by Green Pak. On the other hand it encourages co-operation, which is beneficial to both parties.

"WasteServ is responsible for setting up the infrastructure, supervising and controlling waste management facilities as well as to increase awareness about the need to establish a sustainable waste management system."
