A court yesterday ruled that Malta Drydocks should be paid over one Lm1 million for work it had done on a vessel.

Mr Justice Noel Cuschieri, sitting in the First Hall of the Civil Court, heard the case filed by Malta Drydocks against the vessel Garyounis.

The drydocks claimed it was owed $2,817,667 on the basis that it had carried out works on the ship. The sum was equivalent to Lm1,046,876.

The court noted that although the ship had been served with the drydocks' writ it had not filed any pleas contesting the claim. Furthermore, the court ruled that the drydocks' claim was justified.

The vessel was ordered to pay Lm1,046,876 to Malta Drydocks.
