Painting from China for Zurrieq church

A painting from China showing the Madonna and Child will soon be added to the collection at Zurrieq church.

It was presented to the archpriest of Zurrieq, Fr Karm Farrugia, yesterday.

The painting is the work of the famous Chinese artist Na Yuan, a well known personality and benefactor of the poor and needy in many countries.

Na Yuan, who this year was named as one of the most 10 famous women in China, was in Malta two years ago at the invitation of the Malta China Friendship Society. She exhibited her paintings at the General Workers' Union gallery.

When in Malta she visited Zurrieq local council and church and promised to one day donate a painting.

Ms Na presented the painting to the president of the society, Reno Calleja when he was recently in China.
