The message you featured on November 9 is a scam designed to skim off credit card details from the minority of people who reply. There have been alerts about this sort of message in the UK and as the Internet does not respect national boundaries it was only a matter of time before this fraud was attempted on people in Malta.

I would advise anyone receiving a message like this to contact the bank which issued their credit card and ask them to investigate it themselves. (Dr Carmelo Aquilina, Brighton, UK)

I thank Dr Aquilina for confirming this. One can never be too careful when it comes to such scams. My article was about a message going round informing people that someone has tried to purchase something using their credit card and asking them to confirm their credit card number supposedly to investigate.
