The Kunsill Studenti Universitarji yesterday launched two think tanks and its Higher Education Conference.
The two think tanks will deal with the reform of the Education Act and quality assurance and complaints at the university.
They are composed of students and recent graduates with relevant experience. They will be meeting regularly until March, after which their reports will be presented at the Higher Education Conference, entitled Ensuring Educational Excellence within the European Higher Education Area, in April.
"By setting up these think tanks, KSU is once again proving that students are at the forefront of higher education reform, pioneering new developments and raising quality standards, to ensure a high level of academic excellence and competitiveness for years to come," KSU education commissioner Anthony Camilleri said.
KSU also presented a copy of its report, International Students Working in Malta: a Possibility, to Education Minister Louis Galea. The report calls for foreign students attending full-time courses at the university to be able to work while attending university.
KSU is engaging in a broad dialogue on the issues over the next few months and is collaborating with the European Unit, the university and with the Education Ministry.
