Enemalta has announced that gas cylinders will be available on Saturdays from three different points.

So on our roads we will also have to cope with cars loaded with empty/full gas cylinders, immaterial of the condition of the car and some of our roads.

It was stated that the distributors would advise members of the public on how to carry the cylinders safely. Are these versed in the code of practice dealing with The Transportation Of LP Gas Full And Empty Pressurised Vessels (cylinders)?

Should not one have a fire extinguisher when transporting gas cylinders? Has the number of cylinders which one may transport been established?

We were told that this agreement was reached between Enemalta and the GRTU, Association of General Retailers and Traders. Are we to believe that the police were completely ignored in this matter? If, God forbid, an accident were to occur do insurance policies cover those involved innocently? Was this agreement achieved with the blessing of the Malta Resources Authority?

Every gas consumer has spare cylinders and no one should fall short at weekends, so is this risky service truly necessary? Or is this paving the way for something else like, for example, doing away with the door to door service?
