It is with great astonishment that I found out that our parish church of St Augustine in Valletta has been excluded from the MAPA Programme and considered as of no relevant historical and artistic value.

I would like to know on which criteria such a decision has been taken. The present church rises on the very spot where the first church of 1571 built on the plan and under the guidance of Gerolomo Cassar stood.

The present church which started being built in 1765 to the plan of the architect Giuseppe Bonnici, is a historical building by its very old age. Its internal architectural form is unique in Malta and this must arouse the interest of our artists and tourists. Inside the church, there are several paintings, statues and objects of artistic value.

I do hope that very soon due attention will be giving to our church and its historical and artistic value. If needed, I can supply other information to prove my point.
